Clothing: Clothing performs
two functions: it protects the wearer from
the environment and it makes a statement about an individual and his or her occupation and
life-style. Remember that clothing must
reflect the climate and is usually made from materials readily available in the
environment. Synthetics have someone
eliminated the need for natural materials, yet many still rely on local products for their
clothing.
Most cultures have
special clothing that is different from what they wear everyday. For instance, to show respect for the dead, people
who are in mourning in Ghana wear kobene, cotton dyed a deep red. In many western cultures, men wear tuxedos and
women wear long and sometimes elaborate dresses for formal occasions.
Education: An educational
system provides the means by which a country develops the knowledge of its people and
ensures the continuity of culture. Sometimes education is offered to all citizens; other
times it is only offered to a privileged few. Education
is recognized as important facet of a country development.
