(Examples: steel industry, automobile industry, and tourism) Industries provide ways, other than farming, for people to make a living. Industry is often based upon the agricultural products or natural resources in the area.

            What are some of the industries in your world?

            Why do you think these particular industries are located here?

            How do these industries affect the peoples’ lives in your community?

Do these industries raise the standard of living? Do they offer higher employment or more diverse occupations?

If there were no industry in your area, would most people be able to make a living from farming?
